Over the July holidays we held our SMART Teachers Conference - See, Share and Shape the Future at Bairds Mainfreight School, who hosted this year’s conference.
Over 100 hundred teachers attended the conference and now have a wealth of new knowledge that they have taken away to “shape the future” in their schools and classrooms. John Roder, Senior Lecturer from Auckland University: Faculty of Education, our keynote speaker, inspired teachers with ideas of collaborative learning and how to implement technology.
Jeff Schultz, a SMART Certified Trainer, came across from Sydney to present and demonstrate our exciting new products. Jeff demonstrated the Document Camera with the mixed reality and 3D capabilities, SMART Notebook Maths Tools and the SMART Board 880 Multitouch along with SMART Notebook 10.8.
Our participants were also able to “see” other teachers share their practice. The feedback we have had from these sessions has been outstanding. Teachers said, “it was great to see how the SMART Board integrates itself into Curriculum Mapping and other forms of planning in a collaborative and interactive way.” Other teachers stated that they have enjoyed “creating the hands on activities that they can take back to their classes’ and use”. During conversations with the Education Consultants teachers said they had thoroughly enjoyed themselves and looked forward to next year’s conference.
We would like to thank Bairds Mainfreight School for hosting this conference and all the assistance they have provided to us and to our keynotes and presenters for providing such inspiring sessions. Thank you also to those who attended to make our conference a success. We look forward to seeing you again at next year’s conference.
